Our Weekend: Hiking, beer drinking and procrastinating

Today is the start of my 6th week left at Namsung school, which means 8 weeks until we will be in Argentina starting the next adventure. Scary! I was going to try and study my Spanish really hard this weekend and look into sorting out the hostel for Argentina, but friends got in the way! Nick was away this weekend, trying to pack in some 'man time' with his friend Jake before he leaves, so I was left to my own devices and Spanish took a back seat.

On Saturday it was so bright and sunny that I didn't want to stay inside and study, so I went on a mini hike. I had heard about the Galmeat Gil trails that run all throughout the city and decided to try course number 3. I started it at Jwacheon station, which is only a couple of stops North of where I live, and finished it at the Jungang Memorial park. The thing about these trails is you follow the blue and pink ribbons that are tied around trees or lamposts, or the yellow signs that are spray painted onto the ground. It's quite fun hunting for the next one, but I am very easily distracted and kept forgetting to look for them.

Two of the best things that happened to me on that walk was, an old lady befriending me, who couldn't speak a word of English, but knew where all the best views were, so she was dragging me around her hood and making me take pictures. I kept trying the Korean I know on her but she would bat her hand as if she wasn't interested in talking!

Secondly was the big, bad motorcyclist I saw coming around the bend, it was only when he got closer that I could hear he was playing 'I'm in the mood for dancing' by The Nolans as loud as possible. Not quite as badass as I first thought!

I got back by 5 and got ready for Oktoberfest, the annual German beer festival that they hold in Oncheonjang. It definitely makes me feel like Summer is over when I'm drinking big mugs of beer, it reminds me of the German Christmas Market that used to come to Nottingham every year. We went for dinner first at Nick's favourite restaurant and we got to meet the owner's new born daughter, she was so cute! Then we headed off to start the revelry. I have to say that I didn't like the beer mugs as much as last year, but the atmosphere was great. We finished the night dancing away in Almost Famous in KSU.

Sunday I had errands to run in the morning which are some first steps towards leaving Korea, then I went to meet Tash and Dan and Ruth and Tom on Songdo beach. It was pretty cold, Autumn has definitely got its foot in the door now. I eventually got home by 6:30 last night and felt waaay too tired to study Spanish...oh dear! I am having a 10pm lesson on Skype to make up for my neglect.

I hope you all had a great weekend, however productive it was, or wasn't!
